Some Facts about Us
- Our student to teacher ratio is 6:1, allowing for individualized attention from instructors, while encouraging students to build social skills.
- We provide, in most cases, all class materials.
- Oasis students are eligible to have their artwork framed and presented in an exhibition at no cost to them.
- We offer classes during 4 semesters yearly, with a large variety of different classes per semester.
- Oasis students are invited to attend special events at the enrichment center, including exhibition openings, evening events, special workshops, and much more!
- Oasis students are achieving higher levels of functionality; our program has seen great success in students, including those who have not been successful in more traditional day programs.
- We will work together with support coordinators, family members and students to design One- on-One courses based on goals, interests and skill levels.
One-on-One Courses
Intensive, highly individualized courses with one instructor and one student. Course focuses on goal setting and attaining goal with the help of the instructor. This can be either arts based or life skills based or a combination of both.
This class is offered as an in-house service at Oasis or, in specific cases, as a mobile-outreach service either to the individual's residence or some place in the community. The length of this class can be determined based on the attention span and need of the student with a minimum of 1-hour in-house and 1-hour outreach.
Group Courses
Small group courses which are designed to give more exposure to social situations and thereby encourage social interaction and activity. Classes are based on a student-teacher ratio of 6-1. Some classes can be as small as 3:1. These classes can be art based, life-skills based, or both. Group classes can start at any time and can be designed to accommodate any interest or skill level, providing there is enough student interest to begin a class.
A student interested in a group class that we are not currently offering can contact us and be put on a waiting list pending enough student enrollment (which we will then work to accomplish!). At the same time, a coordinator with a small of students who share an interest can design a specific class for that group together with us. Students may enroll in our ongoing group classes at any time.
